Better late than never, I guess! This wedding is from October 2010. Ivories and greens for the bride. Beautiful fall colors for the bridesmaids, ceremony and reception. I loved the craspedia and acorn bouts for the men. The LOVELY, and very talented Meredith Zeller of Bridal Blueprints took care of pretty much everything besides the flowers!

White and Bling

White and Lavender, Carnton Plantation

This weekend I did a lavender, white and green wedding. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white hydrangea, lavender calla lilies, Polo roses, lavender roses, white lisianthus, green hypericum berries and heather. Stunning if I do say so myself!
The bridesmaids carried a smaller version of the bride's bouquet, less the calla lilies. Those were just for the bride and groom.

For the corsages I put together a sweet little collection of spray roses, hypericum berries and hydrangea on a pearl bracelet.
The tables were outfitted with pillows of hydrangea and lanterns. I can't wait to see the professional pictures from the evening with them all lit up!

Vintage at Carnton

This was a beautiful wedding at Carnton Plantation in June. The colors were white, yellow, navy. The bride went with a really lovely vintage theme for her wedding - pulled off by wedding Planner Meredith Zeller of Bridal Blueprints. There are photos from my camera and from Ulmer Studios. Those from Ulmer Studios are marked.

One of the things I loved about this wedding was the use of heirloom brooches and pins in the bride's bouquet. The flowers for the bride's bouquet were super simple - just white hydrangeas - but the addition of the brooches made it stunning!
The bridesmaids carried white hydrangea, Queen Anne's lace, craspedia, and cotton witha little curly willow twisted over top. I LOVE the addition of the cotton.

The men's boutonnieres were cotton and craspedia.
The bride also had two memorial arrangements for family memebers that had passed away. They were used both at the ceremony and reception.
The centerpieces were made in containers the bride decoupaged with pictures of her and the groom and newspapers.
I went with hydrangeas, cotton, Queen Anne's Lace, and yellow cremones to keep with the vintage feel. Meredith did a lot of custom work for the reception decor - a lot of mason jars, fabric flowers, etc. She really has an eye for it all. Below is the sweetheart table.
I have to include pictures of the grounds. Here is one of the formal garden. Beautiful!
And the marriage tree as sen from the garden. Every wedding I've ever done (except the one when it rained cats and dogs) has been under the shady branches of this gloriously old tree. It's probably 5 feet across? It is so romantic and sweet.

Peacock Feathers Galore

My dear friend Renee, whom I have known since she was 13, got married last week. It was an honor to be able to do her wedding flowers. Photography by Andrea Watkins Photography.
Renee' chose a really fun color palette inspired by peacock feathers. The yellow Gerbers were added in because they were her maid of honor's favorite flowers. The maid of honor is also one of her sisters, so that inclusion into her wedding flowers was really important to Renee'. The monochromatic bouquets were really fun to dream up and design. And the colors: yellow, green, light blue, dark blue and purple are a really fun twist on traditional jewel tones.

I played with texture and color, while tying it all together with peacock feathers, curly willow and some amazing turquoise silk shantung ribbon. Each bridesmaid carried a different color and the bride's bouquet combined them all to really tie it all together.

The Maid of Honor carried yellow Gerbers.
For the green bouquet we decided to go with Fuji and Kermit mums. Blue hydrangea and thistle for the light blue bouquet.
Darker blue hydrangea, delphinium and blue iris with yellow tongues for the dark blue bouquet. The yellow tongues on the irises really tied in well with the Gerbers.
For the purple bouquet I used purple lisianthus and stock.
The bouquets did double-duty and served as the decoration for the head table at the reception.

Summer Jewel Tones

Traditional Fall

Last October I did a wedding that was such a fun fall wedding. October is my favorite month (orange is my favorite color) and the bride chose to go with a very traditional color palette for her wedding.

Meet the ladies. The bride carried the red rose and stephanotis bouquet. Bridesmaids carried the fall palette.
For the guest book table.
Simple pew markers. Big budget pieces are always gorgeous, but this gives you an accent without breaking the bank.
Very fall centerpieces for the ceremony.
Centerpieces were in pumpkins, surrounding by leaves and ornamental gourds.

The cake was accented with the full palette of flowers for a lovely fall look.

Better than Wedding Flowers

Totally Luxe Garden Texture

I am fairly certain this wedding has become one of my favorites. The textures in the bouquets just takes my breath away! This design had rich roses, hydrangea, viburnum, rosemary, lavender, lamb's ear, anemones and seeded eucalyptus.

UPDATE: photos from Gray Photography are in! They are spectacular. I've included them here at the top. Check out their website and blog, their work is fantastic. The photos I took are after.

The grounds were stunning in May, lush green everywhere. I love those rounded hedges in the background. The bride chose flowers that really went with the Plantation's look and feel.
Sweet couple! I love the dark pop the anemones give in the black and white.
All the pretty ladies! So much fun!
The use of sunlight here is just amazing to me - so fantastic!
Loved the boutonnieres for this wedding, dendrobium orchids and rosemary.

I have to say, Gray Photography was a joy to work with. They worked really hard, even on a hot day, and the photos are just lovely, I can't say it enough.

And now, back to my regular photos. The bride's bouquet. Gardeny, rich, soft, spectacular.
The bridesmaids carried rich bouquets in green and white. I cannot tell you HOW MUCH I love these textures.
The altar arrangements did double duty. Not only did they flank the altar area of the ceremony, one was placed at the table assignments, the other on the buffet line. A great way to enjoy your flowers all night long!

The bride carried white roses, hydgrangea, cymbidium orchids and bouvardia. So beautiful and classic. A perfect bouquet to walk you down the aisle.

Hot Pink at the Governor's Club, Take Two

Both times I've done a wedding at the Mansion at the Governor's Club in Brentwood the flowers have been hot pink and green. Which is great, because I love those colors.

That's what I wrote on my meeting notes when I met with the bride and her mother about the color pallette for her flowers. I used roses, stock, Gerbers, some button mums and alstromeria for this design. This combination of flowers is nice to look at and budget-friendly, too.

Eggplant, Grass and ivory at Carnton Plantation

This past weekend I did flowers for an amazing wedding at Carnton Plantation.

The weather didn't cooperate so the couple weren't able to have their nuptials in the garden, but we were able to pull off a beautiful tented ceremony and reception. The photos that follow are from the immensely talented Leslee Mitchell. Check her out on Facebook here.

Union Station Hotel

Last fall I did the wedding flowers for a great couple. SO sweet, so in love. It was really fun to meet and work with them.

The bride and bridesmaids bouquets: patience garden roses, dahlias, lilies, mini callas, lisianthus, amaranthus, hypericum berries.The ivory tones went perfectly with the bride's dress and the gorgeous red for the bridesmaids.

The fireplace and mantle at Union Station are just incredible. Decorating the entire length of the mantle really gave the ceremony and reception a spectacular focal point.
For the reception, the chairs from the ceremony were cleared out of the main hall and replaced with tables. That hotel has switching out a ceremony to a reception DOWN! I could barely keep up they moved so fast!!!

Half the tables had an arrangement of kissing balls of either roses, dahlias, mums, carnations, spray roses and button mums.

My favorite part of the entire design were these candlesticks with the wreath of flowers at the top. They turned out SO amazing!

Governor's Club - Fuchsia Pink and Lime Green (Cheery for the Cherrys)

Labor Day Weekend (sorry, I am so behind in posting my pictures) I got to do some amazing flowers. The bride carried a bouquet of "Yves Piaget" garden roses and green cymbidiums. It smelled as good as it looked! I think those garden roses are my new favorites.
The ladies all lined up. The vases for the bridesmaids were line with ti leaves, and the bouquets were used as table centerpieces, and economical use of your flower budget. The bouquets get to do double-duty as flowers for the bridesmaids and everyone gets to enjoy them during the reception, too.
The bride wanted all the tables to be different, I love that. I used different heights and styles of vases for each table.

Asian Influence, Ivory and Mahogany

Carnton Plantation Beauty

This past weekend I did a wedding at Carnton Plantation in Franklin. Besides my flowers looking just lovely (as always), the grounds were AMAZING! I have never seen the garden so full, green and in bloom! The weather was just right - 80's, sunny, no humidity, and a cool breeze all afternoon.

The bride carried ivory roses and white hydrangea, the bridesmaids carried yellow roses in really sweet tussy-mussy holders. Each silver holder had a little chain and name plate on them, a keepsake for the bridesmaid. Very thoughtful!
Tin buckets of white hydrangea graced the tables.
The guestbook table had an arrangement of roses, orchids and hydrangea.
I loved these lanterns. They marked the back end of the aisle, and I love cascading flowers out of them. Such a romantic feel.

Lovely White, Green, and Cornflower Blue

I love that here in the South there are so many historic places where you can get married. This bride got married at Oakland Mansion in Murfreesboro. The grounds are spectacular, and they have a really nice kitchen and indoor reception area.

The bride carried a lovely hand-tied bouquet of ivory roses, green hydrangea, freesia and waxflower dyed blue. I used to use tweedia, but found that it is really tempermental and the quality varies widely. Bridesmaids carried a simple bouquet of green hydrangea, a really sweet bouquet in my opinion. The flower girl in this wedding carried a sweet kissing ball of green hydrangea accented with waxflower.

Lovely Flowers at St. Henry's

This weekend I did some work for Rhonda Patton for a wedding she had at St. Henry's: two altar arrangements, pew markers, and mother's nosegays. The bride's colors were green and purple, but Rhonda chose a classic and timeless all white and green palette for the altar arrangements. The arrangements ended up being about 4 feet across and 4 feet tall!
The pew markers brought in the purple and green theme. They tied in beautifully with the bridesmaids' plum dresses.
One of my favorites among up and coming trends is mothers carrying a nosegay as opposed to wearing a corsage. They give you something to do with your hands, nosegays are beautiful, and after the wedding you can put it down and not worry about people smooshing it in the receiving line or pulling at your dress all night!

Spring Pinks

This bride chose shades of ivory and pale pink for her bouquet. The pink roses smelled heavenly! It's not always easy to find commercial roses that smell good, but my supplier has a great selection of good-smelling roses.

The bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets of pale and raspberry pink roses.
Two altar arrangements (the other one looked just like this) flanked Scarritt Bennett. Everyone was still setting up when I delivered, so I don't have a photo of the whole altar.

New Years White, Pink, Purple and Red

This wedding was right after New Year's, so the bride wanted to incorporate a little festive Christmas and New Year's decor without getting too holiday green and red. Her choices of colors and designs were right on target. The wedding and reception were at St. Henry's.

The bride carried white roses, freesia, hydrangea and dendrobium orchids. Just heavenly!The bridesmaids' bouquets were bright purple, pink, white and a hint of red. They really popped in front of their gorgeous black dresses. The folded zebra leaves as a collar was one of my favorite touches to this wedding.The mothers carried nosegays. I am so loving this trend! I am not the biggest fan of pin-on corsages.
Arrangements were on each of the food tables. Half of the tables had these large festive wreaths with colorful ornament accents and candles in hurricanes.The other half of the tables had these mod-looking arrangements on rhinestone-trimmed trays with fun ornaments and baubles.

The reception was at One Eleven downtown. It is a large, open loft above Big River, and overlooks the Cumberland River and the rest of downtown. An absolutely stunning view!

Crisp Christmas White, Red and Greens

I was contacted to do last-minute flowers for a wedding on December 27th at King's Chapel in Arrington. The historic chapel was simply decorated with Christmas greenery and white candles, the bride's bouquet was white tulips, dendrobium orchids, white spray roses and hypericum berries and cedar greens.

Chic Evening Wedding

I did some hourly work for a wedding. It was interesting to work that way - to come in last minute and basically do just the final creation. The reception was at the mother of the bride's home, and the tents, and seating and everything was just amazing. It was a LOT of work, and I'm sure it paid off.

The flower palette was white and deep red. The bride carried an all-white bouquet of roses, paper whites, callas, freesia, lisianthus. I loved the ribbon and lace and the heirloom handkerchief.
The bridesmaids carried bouquets of red roses, asiatic lilies, calla lilies, snapdragons and hypericum berries. Stunning!
NOTE: I did not do or create this arrangement - the aunt and friend did it, but I thought I would show it since it was so darn awesome!

A Fall Wedding Brunch

This wedding was a second wedding for two Senior citizens, and it was so sweet! I stuck with a more traditional fall palette, but added in some lighter colors since the wedding was at 11:00 a.m. at Brentwood United Methodist.

The bride wanted each of her table centerpieces to be different, so that peopls had something neat to look at at table. So She compiled 12 charger-like baskets, and tons of other items, and I put them all together and added flowers to some of them. I won't be posting each one, but these were some of my favorites.

Loveley Blues and Purples

This past weekend I got a break from traditional fall colors to do some beautiful blue and purple flowers. I have to say, the blue delphinium I got was spectacular! The wedding was at the Cathedral of the Incarnation on West End, and the reception was at Old Natchez Country Club.

The bride carried a bouquet of ivory roses, white freesia with some touches of blue. The Bridesmaids carried carried bouquets of blue hydrangea, iris, dephinium and anemones. I love how their dresses were a smoky navy blue. Altar arrangements for the front of the cathedral. The whole setting was beautiful.
Arrangement for the entrance of the country club. The fondant on this cake was incredibly smooth. I didn't get the name of the baker, but if you want fondant, I would recommend them. Centerpieces were a simple square glass vase with blue hydrangea and white waxflower, tied off with ribbon.

Hermitage Golf Course in the Fall

A beautiful fall wedding on a beautiful fall day! Elizabeth and her family were such a joy to work with.

The bride carried an all-white bouquet of white roses, cymbidium orchids, freesia. It looked and smelled heavenly! The groom's bout was a cymbidium orchid with hypericum berries.
The maid of honor's bouquet was slightly larger than the other girls and also had red freesia in it. The bridesmaids. I loved how each girl got to pick her own black dress. The mother of the bride and mother of the groom's nosegays. They opted to carry them in traditional silver nosegay holders. A very sweet touch.

Cheery Red, Orange and Yellow

The bride carried a classic red rose bouquet.Bridesmaids carried a bouquet of red, orange and yellow-red roses, yellow stock freesia and alstromeria. The altar arrangement contained apples, which bore sentimental value for the bride and groom. The aisles were lined with tall cylinder vases as hurricanes with rose petals in the bottom with a pillar candle. I am sorry I don't have a full picture of how beautiful the sanctuary at Second Presbyterian is (especially with my flowers), it is a gorgeous church.
For the reception at the DoubleTree downtown, I did a giant martini glass filled with glass rocks, an underwater light, rose petals, spider orchids and apples.

A Bushel of Berries

The color theme for this bride was berries. She came to our first meeting with paint chips galore in shades of raspberry, blackberry, cranberry, you name it! The ceremony and reception were both at West End Church of Christ.

It's A Nice Day For A White Wedding

Thanks, Billy Idol for a great line. The flowers for this wedding were all white hydrangeas, with some roses, stephanotis and stock to accent. The bridesmaids wore black dresses, and the reception was decorated with white and black linens and white candles.

The altar arrangements were full of some of the best hydrangeas I've ever gotten to work with. Every stem was larger than normal and fat with blossoms.

The mothers carried a small nosegay of white roses with stephanotis.
The reception was at Global Cafe downtown. What a neat venue! All the tables at the reception had a square vase filled with hydrangea, and accented with lily grass to give everything a more modern feel to match the reception space.
The cake lady and I filled the layers between the cakes with white hydrangeas. I love flowers on cakes!

Hot Summer, Hot Pink

4th of July weekend I did flowers for my friends' wedding. The bride picked pink, lots of pink. I said in my head "My cullas aah blush and bashful" about 1,000 times, a la Steele Magnolias, while working on this wedding. I cannot tell you HOW MUCH I LOVE LOVE LOVE pink flowers!!! I love just about every flower, but anything pink steals the show every time for me.

Bright Summer Colors

The last weekend of June, I did some work with Geny's Wholesale. Wow, was it FUN! I got to work on two different weddings/receptions. I am posting pictures of only the items that I worked on, with a couple of exceptions.

EVENT #1: a wedding and reception at Union Station Hotel.
Cute tussie-mussie for the mothers to carry. I love the idea of a small bouquet instead of a corsage. A small bouquet won't get smushed from hugging others like a shoulder corsage, you don't have to worry about pins snagging your special dress, and you can set it down if you don't want it with you for a little bit. Bridesmaid's bouquet. I love the choice of colors, so bright and cheery!I really liked the small shepherd's hooks for the guest tables. Ok, I didn't do this arrangement, but I just had to show it. Joan Presley of Geny's did this one. It was 15 feet long! It covered the entire mantle of the fireplace at Union Station Hotel. She did an incredible job and I am so glad I got to work with her on these events.
EVENT #2: Reception at a private home.
Joan started the bigger of the two arrangements, I finished it and did the smaller arrangement. It was such a cool set-up for the island in this couple's kitchen. Cake flowers. The cupcake idea is so darn cute. This really cool candelabra graced the entry foyer next to the stairwell.

Ivory Roses, Hydrangea and Calla Lilies

The wedding was at Scarritt Bennett. My picture does not do the chapel justice at all! It was just gorgeous!
The bride chose a very simple altar of callas and candles. A close-up of the garden roses used in the bride's bouquet. The bride's bouquet: wonderfully fragrant garden roses, green hydrangea, and light blue tweedia accent. The bridesmaid's bouquets were ivory roses, ivory spray roses and green hydrangea. The men wore boutonnieres of stephanotis.
The reception was at the Country Music Hall of Fame. There were three different table sizes, so three different arrangements.
The cocktail tables had a vase with hydrangea and bear grass. The 60-inch rounds had a vase with roses and bear grass swirled in the vase. An overview shot of the reception. My photography doesn't do the site justice. My favorite tables were the highboys. I just loved the modern look of the callas in the rectangle vase!

Lovely Blue Hydrangeas

This bride chose lovely blue hydrangeas, ivory roses, and stephanotis for her bouquet. The bridesmaids carried a smaller version of her bouquet, and their dresses were the most wonderful shade of smoky blue that completely matched the hydrangeas!

The wedding and reception were at her parent's home. I decorated the pillars in the front with big floral swags of roses, delphinium and hydrangea.

These sweet vases of hydrangea and spray roses were on the tables under a tent for the reception.
Mother's Corsage was all stephanotis. It looked and smelled heavenly!
The fathers wore stephanotis as well. I neglected to take a picture of the grooms and groomsmen. The Groom wore an ivory rose with stephanotis, the groomsmen wore an ivory rose with greenery.

Flowers, Flowers, Everywhere!

This weekend I worked for Jim Knestrick, of Knestrick by Design, doing all kinds of flowers for a reception. We had flowers everywhere and everything was so luscious! This was a really exciting event for me because I got to do one of the chandeliers in the main tent, and two different tablescapes. It was a lot of work, but so fun! I'm only posting here photos of work that I did.

Really awesome candle stands with a floral base and greenery around the vases with floating candles.

Cheery Yellow

This past weekend the wedding was at St. George's Episcopal Church and the reception was at the War Memorial Plaza downtown. Both locations were stunning! The bride chose a lovely yellow pallette for her flowers. Accents of creamsicle orange and a tiny bit of green really made the yellow stand out without being overwhelming.

St. George's is so big inside, and the stained glass was amazing.

The bride carried a bouquet of all yellow roses, the bridesmaids did the same.
The centerpieces were in beautiful black glased ceramic urns.
The reception flower arrangement - about 4 feet in diameter, on a specactular urn and pedastal from Geny's.

Raspberry and Lime - a Great Spring/Summer Combo

This wedding was at Rippavilla Plantation in Spring Hill. the grounds were gorgeous!

Spring Blue and White

This was my first wedding at Cedarwood in Whites Creek. It is a beautiful destination for a wedding and reception. The house and grounds are really lovely. Beautiful blue and white hydrangeas, white roses, white stock, blue delphinium and tweedia.

Classic Red

This bride chose to do all red flowers. A monochromatic theme is very classic and elegant. I added jewels to the bride's bouquet for a little sparkle. I'm not a photographer, so you can't tell, but they sparkled!

Gorgeous Reds

I keep forgetting to put up these pictures! Joan Presley, co-owner of Geny's Wholesale, let me help do some of the flowers for her daughter's wedding (Victoria Presley and Tyler Davenport) at the end of March. The reception was all black, red and white, with all red flowers. It was just so beautiful, sophisticated and romantic. Spring Wedding, Green & White

Wedding season is upon us! This weekend I did a wedding at the Belle Meade Plantation. The bride chose flowers in shades of green and white, a beautiful palette for Spring and for the landscape of the plantation. The reception was in the Carriage House.

Bride's Bouquet was composed of hydrangea, white garden roses, ranunculus, orchids, freesia and hypericum berries.
The bridesmaids carried bouquets of jade roses, garden roses, orchids, Kermit mums, and hypericum berries.
The groom, groomsmen, father and officiant all wore an orchid boutonniere.
The ring bearers had boutonnieres of Kermit mums and hypericum berries.
One of the corsages made it into this woman's hair, and I thought it looked lovely!
Gorgeous cake by The Sweetest Day. Absolutely PERFECT frosting, shape, corners, decoration, you name it. I've not seen many cakes this good. I added the flowers to match the overall floral theme of the wedding.
Another shot of the flowers on the topper. The orchids were exquisite, and the garden roses had the most heavenly scent!
The reception was decorated with two types of centerpieces, these were on a beautiful wrought-iron stand.
The other tables had these neat lanterns, and I placed flowers at the base.
An overview of the carriage house. It looked so romantic with the sun going down and the mood lighting inside, I just didn't get a picture of that.
The following are different shots of the decorated posts. I used Bells of Ireland, roses, snapdragons, amaranthus and curly willow with greenery.
Finally, there were several lanterns filled with flowers showing the way from the Carriage House to the garden where the ceremony took place. A set of lanterns like this one flanked the ceremony.

Winter Wonderland

I went home to Seattle this past weekend to do flowers for a friend's wedding. She picked a Christmas theme for her flowers since the wedding was in December. It turned out really great!

The bride and bridesmaid's bouquets. I made them with deep, dark velvety red roses, green cymbidium orchids, bright hypericum berries and seeded eucalyptus, accented with cedar. The bride also found these great snowflake pins that I wired for the bouquets.

This wedding used a lot of the traditional fall colors, but with the dark teal bridesmaids dresses I think the colors really looked stunning. I accented the bride's bouquet with cream roses to coordinate with her dress. The Groom's boutonniere was also a cream rose to make him stand out from the other men.

Fall Wedding, Orange, Cream, Brown, Green

With this wedding the bride wanted to accent the overall chocolate brown theme with cream, orange and green.

The bride's bouquet carried all the colors: orange tiger lilies, callas and daisies, cream lisianthus and stock, lime green roses, fuji mums, cymbidium orchise and seeded eucalyptus, chocolate protea foliage.

The bridesmaid's bouquet was very similar to the bride's, but to make the bride's stand out I left out the orchids and orange daisies.
The groom's boutonniere was a single flame calla accented with seeded eucalyptus.
The mother's corsages were two lime green cymbidium orchids with chocolate ribbon.
These altar arrangements were a lot of fun to make. The vases were just gorgeous and really accented the arrangements well.

The bride wanted a woodsy feel to her wedding. We went with a lot of sage green color in the seeded eucalyptus and orchids, and accented that with cream-colored stock, white lisianthus, Queen Anne's lace and orange ranunculus.

This wedding colors were pink, white and lavender. Bride's bouquet was all pink roses, the bridesmaids were pink roses white white sweet peas. A wedding of all roses is simple yet elegant. The large arrangements were made from silk flowers that the bride provided beforehand.
